Cassie S. Mitchell, PhD

Cassie S. Mitchell is an Assistant Professor in the Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Tech and Emory University. She received her BS in Chemical Engineering from Oklahoma State University in 2004 and her PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Georgia Tech and Emory in 2009. Dr. Mitchell’s research focus is on predictive medicine - the development and application of machine learning, statistics, and engineering to identify causes, develop cures, and optimize patient care.  Dr. Mitchell specializes in neurological disease, although her research spans multiple domains. She has received multiple awards including the: 2019 American Neurological Association’s Outstanding Young Investigator Award; 2020 National Science Foundation CAREER Award; 2020 Outstanding Faculty Academic Service Award; 2020 and 2021 CIOS Teaching Honor Roll; and the 2021 Sigma Xi Young Faculty Award.  Mitchell is also co-founder of the ABLE Alliance for Disability Inclusion and was named the 2020 Faculty Diversity Champion.
