Arnold R. Kriegstein, MD, PhD

Dr. Arnold Kriegstein received a BA from Yale University and MD and PhD degrees from New York University. He completed neurology residency at the Brigham and Women’s, Children’s, and Beth Israel Hospitals in Boston. He has held academic appointments at Stanford, Yale, and Columbia Universities. In 2004, he became the John Bowes Distinguished Professor and Founding Director of the Broad Center for Stem Cell Research at UC San Francisco. Dr. Kriegstein’s research focuses on mechanisms of neurogenesis in the embryonic brain and how this information can be used for cell-based therapies.
